Performance-Based Logistics Advocates Launch Re-Education Campaign

With no less than the Pentagon’s top leaders throwing their weight behind increasing performance-based logistics (PBLs) as a favorite type of contract, the future looks bright for industry providers and advocates.

There is only one problem: history. PBLs—long-term service agreements where the Defense Department pays for outcomes like weapon availability at set spending levels, leaving providers to manage risks and reap greater rewards—faces the same sort of branding issues that communism does.
