U.S. Navy Establishes BMD Base In Romania

The U.S. Navy established a new Naval Support Facility earlier this month in Romania that will be part of NATO’s overall ballistic missile defense (BMD) system.

Naval Support Facility (NSF) Deveselu, a former Romanian airfield, is the first Navy base to be established since Naval Station Everett in Washington, whose official groundbreaking ceremony was held Nov. 9, 1987.
