Italian Army Takes Delivery Of New-Generation Chinooks

LONDON — The Italian army has taken delivery of its first two new model ICH-47F Chinooks license-built by AgustaWestland.

The two aircraft – part of an order of 16 – were handed over during a ceremony at the company’s Vergiate plant near Milan on Oct. 2.

According to AgustaWestland, the deal also includes a five-year logistics support contract.

All 16 aircraft will be delivered to the Italian army by the end of 2017 and will replace the CH-47C Chinooks currently flying with the Italian army’s 1st Regiment.
