A&D Contractors Continue To Enjoy Pension Tailwind

Several regulatory and financial factors have combined over the last year to boost most major U.S. aerospace and defense (A&D) contractors’ bottom lines in a way their core operations could not alone – all due to workers’ retirements.

The confluence of events should only strengthen pensions, to the relief of recipients. But for companies, the bottom line boosts also help them look more attractive to investors and shareholders, i.e., improving their valuations, despite relative federal austerity and so-called sequestration spending caps.
