Airbus Flies Updated Orlik Trainer

LONDON — Airbus Defense and Space says it has completed 30 hr. of flight tests on a new version of the Polish-built PZL-130 Orlik turboprop trainer.

The company unveiled the Orlik Multi-Purpose Trainer (MPT) last March as part of a $13 million program to upgrade the aircraft between Airbus and the Polish air force’s Institute of Technology.

The Orlik MPT is an upgraded version of the Orlik TC II already in service with the Polish air force as its main basic training aircraft. The MPT is fitted with a modernized avionics suite.
