Saab to demonstrate remote tower technology at Leesburg Executive

Saab plans to demonstrate remote control tower operations at a general aviation airport in the Washington, D.C., area for a three-month data collection project beginning in June or July 2015.

The trial represents the first application of remote tower technology for the U.S., says Ken Kaminski, general manager of Saab Air Traffic Management. Europe and Australia are either testing or putting the technology into operations at several airports.
