Vietnam Airlines Due To Receive New Widebodies Mid-Year

Airbus has begun final assembly of Vietnam Airlines’ first A350-900 and the manufacturer is on track to deliver the aircraft to the carrier in mid-2015—around the same time as it is due to receive its first Boeing 787-9.

Vietnam Airlines intends to use the Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s to replace its entire widebody fleet of Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s by early 2019. The carrier has previously said it expects to receive five 787s and four A50s by the end of 2015. In total, the airline is due to take delivery of 19 ordered or leased 787-9s, and 14 A350-900s.
