U.S. Navy, Marines Continue To Hone Amphib Ops

The amphibious assault ship LHA 5 USS Peleliu, lead ship of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group (PEL ARG), embarked the Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7 for patrol in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility as the forces prepare for a set of drills to test and improve their abilities to perform amphibious operations.

Rear Adm. Hugh D. Wetherald, commander, ESG 7, says the combination of Navy and Marine forces is vital for “maintaining security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.”
